About

Our story began in Wisconsin.  My husband and I raised our two young children on our organic fruit and vegetable farm, which was also our family business for ten years.  In 2007 we moved to Nevada City after visiting and falling in love with the natural beauty and the community. Soon after our move, I began working at the newly opened shop, Being Green. Six years later we purchased the shop from its original owner and in 2016 we secured our current location just down the street, in the heart of town and rebranded the shop to Mama Madrone's eco-emporium.  The new shop name was inspired by my favorite tree on our property and my desire to bring the spirit of nature into the business!  At Mama Madrone's we offer a wide range of sustainably-made, natural fiber clothing for men, women and children, fair trade jewelry and accessories, certified organic bed and bath, and ethically sourced treasures for your home!  We are fortunate to live in a place filled with creative people and are honored to feature the work of many local artisans and designers.

We hope you enjoy our eco-emporium!   ~Kristin Welch
